We have been looking at the idea of faith in the past few weeks and will continue that this week as we study Romans 1:16-17.  The righteous shall live by faith.  This gift of faith is given to ungodly and unrighteous men who suppress the truth.  It is through faith that we are brought near to God and through faith that the Spirit of God delivers His people “from the domain of darkness….to the kingdom of his beloved Son.”

Come worship with us this Sunday as the Lord strengthens the faith of His people at Christ Community.

Song of Ascent: Jesus Cast a Look on Me

Call to Worship: Psalm 105:1-5

Oh give thanks to the LORD; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice! Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually! Remember the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he uttered

Song of Praise: Lord, Dissolve My Frozen Heart

Corporate Confession: Psalm 27:7-9

Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud; be gracious to me and answer me! You have said, “Seek my face.” My heart says to you, “Your face, Lord, do I seek.” Hide not your face from me. Turn not your servant away in anger, O you who have been my help. Cast me not off; forsake me not, O God of my salvation!“

Promise of Forgiveness: Colossians 1:13-14

He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Affirmation of Faith: Questions 34 & 35 (Lord’s Day 14)

Leader: What is the meaning of these words “He was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary”?
People: That God’s eternal Son, who is, and continues (a) true and eternal God, (b) took upon him the very nature of man, of the flesh and blood of the virgin Mary, (c) by the operation of the Holy Ghost; (d) that he might also be the true seed of David, (e) like unto his brethren in all things, (f) sin excepted. (g)

Leader: What profit dost thou receive by Christ’s holy conception and nativity?
People: That he is our Mediator; (a) and with His innocence and perfect holiness, covers in the sight of God, my sins, wherein I was conceived and brought forth. (b)

Song of Rejoicing: My Jesus, I love Thee

Scripture Reading: Romans 1:16-17

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”
