Read through the songs and verses below in preparation for our time of worship this coming Sunday.  Each week we offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ as we sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in our hearts to God.  It is wise and good to prepare for this time of worship together.

The Song of Ascent: Holy, Holy, Holy
The Call to Worship: Psalm 66:1-5
The Song of Praise: Before the Throne of God Above
The Affirmation of Faith: The Heidelberg Catechism Q. 31-32
The Prayer of Confession: Mark 1:15
The Promise of Forgiveness: Galatians 4:4-7
The Song of Rejoicing: O Worship the King
The Response of Praise: Doxology

The Heidelberg Catechism

Question 31: Why is he called “Christ”, that is anointed?
Answer: Because he is ordained of God the Father, and anointed with the Holy Ghost, to be our chief Prophet and Teacher, who has fully revealed to us the secret counsel and will of God concerning our redemption; and to be our only High Priest, who by the one sacrifice of his body, has redeemed us, and makes continual intercession with the Father for us; and also to be our eternal King, who governs us by his word and Spirit, and who defends and preserves us in that salvation he has purchased for us.

Question 32: But why are you called a Christian?
Answer: Because I am a member of Christ by faith, and thus am partaker of his anointing; so that I may confess his name and present myself a living sacrifice of thankfulness to him: and also that with a free and good conscience I may fight against sin and Satan in this life and afterwards I reign with him eternally, over all creatures.
